JM Robert started painting at a young age. He imitates the textures of patina, the dirt and degradations he observes on the walls and buildings. He first studied classical arts and progressively takes his inspirations in Pop Art and Street Art. He draws subtle and refined faces on abstract backgrounds that remind the asperity and irregularities of urban walls.
JM Robert creates an aesthetic contrast between the subtle delicateness of the faces he chooses and the raw backgrounds of his paintings. The skills with which he combines colours and the way he works materials show his experience: he has been able to learn from classic school to produce his own work and become a rising star of the contemporary art scene.
